Living in Sweden, Snappin' Photos
Cold, Dark, Wet and Windy
So it is now December in Stockholm, and now it’s become the rough time of the year.
It’s cold. Well, it was cold. It was below zero at the start of December, now it’s sitting around 2 or 3 degrees above zero. Well, it’s not too bad, it’s not cold enough to wear full winter clothing without breaking a sweat, but can’t wear lighter clothing because it’s too cold. Ugh, so frustrating!
It’s dark. Well, the sun is up at 8:28 AM and sets at 2:50 PM. This gives us all of 6 hours and 22 minutes of sun, and it’s still dropping for the next 2 weeks! (Roughly 2.5 minutes a day). Add in it’s been overcast, and it really feels dark and gloomy all day. It’s great getting to work and it’s dark, leaving work and it’s dark. Sleeping in because you’re hung over, and the sun is almost gone. Yup, definitely interesting.
It’s wet. Well, it’s not Vancouver rain, but it’s a constant drizzle. It’s rather annoying then anything. I won’t break out the umbrella for it, because, well, that would mean defeat. But it’s the puddles that are annoying. I still live in a construction zone, so it tracks mud and dirt on my shoes and splashes mud on my jeans. Bleh.
It’s windy. The wind likes to pick up, and when it does, it cuts right through you. So mix in cold, dark, and wet, and it becomes a giant mixing pot of NASTY.
Well, the bright side is, I’m home in 1 week for Christmas!

Wow. I hope no one considering going to Sweden reads that post! Sounds like you hate the place! But what about us, the people, don’t we brighten your day?!

Hahaha. Well, it isn’t _THAT_ bad. Well, maybe it is, but the amazing summer and the archipelago does make up for it! And the cute snowbirds.
Plus, it’s not like Vancouver is that much better. Once I get there I know it will rain (unlike the drizzle here) and be cold and dark. Plus, when (if) it snows, driving is going to be a DISASTER!
And yes, the Swedish people do brighten my day. But I do feel so short standing beside them!
